Michael J. Farrell readings: Dublin, Limerick and Cork

Life in the Universe author, Michael J. Farrell, is one of eighteen authors who will read in venues all across Ireland from October 18th to November 24th as part of the Irish Writers' Centre's ongoing Peregrine Reading series.

Sean O'Reilly reading: October 21st

Sean O'Reilly will be reading at the Irish Writers' Centre next Friday, October 21st.  The event, which kicks off at 1pm, is part of the Centre's weekly Lunchtime Reading series, and will see Sean read from his short story 'All Day and All of the Night', which is published in our latest issue.

Events news: The Stinging Fly in New York

To celebrate the launch of our special New York-themed issue, we have lined up (what we hope will be) three fantastic events on three consecutive nights on October 25th, 26th and 27th.

All the events are free and everyone is welcome to attend.  If you are lucky enough to be in New York, do come along and join us. (We'd ask all our readers and supporters in Ireland to spread the word to anyone they think might be interested in coming along and welcoming The Fly to New York!)

Good news for fans of words: Stinging Fly to play Electric Picnic

The Stinging Fly are delighted to tell the world that we're playing this year's Electric Picnic.

Dave Lordan, Niamh Mulvey and Sean O'Reilly will be performing and reading at a special Stinging Fly-themed event on the Sunday, with editor Declan Meade introducing the authors and the magazine. Time permitting, a Q&A session will follow.

To witness the Stinging Fly live experience, head over to the Arts Council Stage in the MindField area. The action kicks off at 12:40pm.

Deadline for Sean O'Reilly workshop extended

Update: the deadline for applications is now Friday, September 2, 2011.

Applications are being sought for our third annual novel-writing workshop with Sean O’Reilly.

The workshop is aimed at those who are in the early stages of writing a novel  and who feel they will benefit from a relationship with a group of others engaged in the same process.

New York issue & launch

Our next issue will have a New York twist: featuring work by Irish and American writers, it will explore the relationship Irish people have had with the city over the years.

Thanks to the support of Culture Ireland, we will launch the issue in New York in October. The event is part of Imagine Ireland, the year-long celebration of Irish arts in America during 2011.
