The Stinging Fly is now open for poetry submissions for our 2021 issues.
The fiction window will open in December.
It being a mad time, we thought it would also be a good idea to say a word on submissions, as we’ll use these two windows to make both issues of the Fly in 2021.
2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, and while loads of good things have happened too, and solidarity has been displayed in various ways, we are also keenly aware that imbalance remains rife in all facets of society. So we want to affirm that The Stinging Fly is open to submissions from writers of all backgrounds, but that we are also determined that a proactive approach to diversity and inclusivity is crucial in redressing imbalances of representation and diversity, both in the pages of our magazine, and the wider cultural landscape in which we all work and create.
As such, we strongly encourage submissions by writers from underrepresented areas of society. If you are such a writer we hope you feel encouraged to submit. If you know such writers, please spread the word (with our thanks). And if you have any queries about this, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
Poetry submissions are now being taken, and will be considered until midnight, November 30th, 2020.
Fiction submissions will be considered from December 14th, 2020 until midnight, January 8th, 2021.
Submissions received during this period will be considered for our two 2021 issues, which will be published in May and November 2021 respectively.
