The sixth annual Doolin Writers’ Weekend, in association with UL Creative Writing, takes place this weekend, from 2nd to the 4th of February. The festival encompasses workshops, readings, advice from publishing industry insiders, music sessions, and an open mic night.

The 2018 programme features many friends of and contributors to the magazine, including Sean O’Reilly, Sally Rooney, Wendy Erskine, Ann-Marie Ní Chuireann, Doireann Ní Ghríofa, Martin Dyar, John Cummins, Sinead Gleeson, Rob Doyle, EM Reapy, June Caldwell, Doire Press, Kimberley Campanello, and Tramp Press.

Some events that may be of particular interest to Stinging Fly readers:

Wendy Erskine is reading her story ’77 Pop Facts’ at 8pm on Friday evening.

Saturday morning sees Sean O’Reilly leading his intensive workshop, ‘Advanced Fiction: Narrative Voice’, while in the afternoon, Sally Rooney will be giving a workshop entitled ‘Conversations on the Novel’.

Later that same evening, at 9.30pm, Sean will be back again to give a reading alongside June Caldwell, in the ‘Readings from the City’ event.
