We are delighted to announce Frank Wynne as our first translator in residence.

Originally from Sligo, Frank is a literary translator from French and Spanish whose authors have included Michel Houellebecq, Javier Cercas and Virginie Despentes. He jointly won the Dublin Literary Award, and has twice won both the Scott Moncrieff Prize and the Premio Valle Inclán. He edited the anthologies Found in Translation (2018) and QUEER: LGBT writing from Ancient Times to Yesterday (2021).

Frank translated two stories by Togolese writer Kangni Alem for our Summer 2021 issue and will contribute another translation to our winter issue in November. Frank will also select and mentor the recipient of our New Translator’s Bursary, which is open to new and emerging translators who have yet to publish a full book in translation. More details on the bursary and how to apply are available here.
