On this month’s episode of The Stinging Fly Podcast our poetry editor Annemarie Ní Churreáin is joined by Róisín Leggett Bohan, featured poet of Issue 54 Volume Two of The Stinging Fly magazine, to read from and discuss her work.
In their conversation, Annemarie and Róisín talk about the promise they find in poetry, growing up in large families and learning how to translate silences within them, how gratitude informs their life and writing, the benefits of being vulnerable and open, as well as the pleasure of dancing, its discipline on the body, and how ‘body-popping’ relates to the poetic line.
Róisín Leggett Bohan is a writer from Cork. She was the winner of the Patrick Kavanagh Award and Fool for Poetry International Chapbook Prize 2025. We Fall We Carry, Róisín’s award-winning chapbook, was published by Southword Editions in 2026. She is working on her first collection.
Annemarie Ní Churreáin is a poet from the Donegal Gaeltacht in Ireland. Her books include Bloodroot (Doire Press, 2017), The Poison Glen (The Gallery Press, 2021), Boy Dancer (Solstice Arts, 2026) and Hymn to All the Restless Girls (The Gallery Press, 2025) which was shortlisted for the Farmgate Café National Poetry Award. Ní Churreáin has received the Arts Council’s Next Generation Artist Award, The Markievicz Award and The Kavanagh Fellowship. She is forthcoming Irish Writer Fellow in Residence 2026-27 at the University of Notre Dame, and Yeats Society Sligo Poet in Residence 2026-28.
