As part of our Second Tuesday Series, we are delighted to offer this in-conversation event with the novelist, Claire Kilroy.
Claire was interviewed by Declan Meade in September 2006 following the publication of her second novel, Tenderwire. The interview was published in Issue 5 Volume 2 of The Stinging Fly.
Their conversation back then touched on the role of research, life and living in Dublin city, writing, rewriting, and editing, and the pressures of writing full-time. Now, almost twenty years later, Claire and Declan will pick back up where they left off to see what, if anything, has changed about the writing life.

This event will be held via Zoom on Tuesday September 8th from 7pm to 8.15pm. Once registered, an access link will be distributed to attendees via email.
The Second Tuesday Series is intended to offer writers a space to gather, share their experiences, and learn from one another. The series features writers in conversation, discussion with participants, as well as occasional craft seminars.
This is a pay what you can event. We ask anyone who can to make a small donation in order to help us cover the costs of the series. We pay participating writers in line with our Artist Payment Policy.

Claire Kilroy is the author of the novels All Summer (Faber, 2003), Tenderwire (Faber, 2006), All Names Have Been Changed (Faber, 2009), and The Devil I Know (Faber, 2012). In 2023, after an eleven year silence, her fifth novel, Soldier Sailor, about the early years of motherhood, was published to universal acclaim. The Times selected it as the Times Novel of The Year, and it was named a Best Book by The Sunday Times, The Irish Times, The Guardian, The Financial Times, The Telegraph, The New Statesman, The Economist, The Irish Examiner, The Journal, The Irish Independent, Vogue, and The Independent. It was shortlisted for the 2024 Women’s Prize for Fiction, the Sky Arts Literature Award and the Irish Novel of the Year. Claire studied at Trinity College and lives in Dublin.
