We’re delighted to collaborate with Solas Nua again this year on Irish Book Day, when volunteers take to the streets of Washington DC on St Patrick’s Day to hand out this free 32-page sampler edition of The Stinging Fly.

The cover is a variation on the cover of our Summer 2016 edition, designed by Lizzy Stewart.

The contents include Angela Bourke’s recent essay on Maeve Brennan’s women, a new poem and translation by Doireann Ní Ghríofa, an early, uncollected story by Danielle McLaughlin, alongside selected work from the magazine and press including short stories from Claire-Louise Bennett (‘Finishing Touch’) and Cathy Sweeney (‘Tales of our Time’) with poetry by Nessa O’Mahony, Mary O’Malley (‘The Tree’) and Roisín Kelly (‘Ode to Love’ and ‘Rapture’). There’s also an extract from Ian Maleney’s interview with Mike McCormack.
